Start With the Wall You Actually Have

Before selecting an insulation product, a qualified contractor should identify the wall assembly. This approach also creates an opportunity for thorough air sealing before the new drywall goes up. Interior renovation work may reduce usable room dimensions slightly if a new wall layer is added. It can also require temporary relocation of furniture and more extensive finish work. Still, when walls are already open, it is often the most direct way to make a lasting improvement.

Think Beyond R-Value

R-value measures resistance to heat flow, and it is a useful part of any insulation conversation. But a higher number on paper does not automatically produce a better renovation result. Wall performance also depends on air sealing, moisture management, installation quality, and the amount of framing that bypasses the insulation.
